Health fairSebasticook Valley Health will host its Second Annual Community Health Fair on Saturday, Sept. 29th, from 11 am to 3 pm, on Leighton Street (outside the SVH Rehabilitation office) in Pittsfield. Using the theme of "Pathways to Better Care," this year's fair will feature a flu shot clinic (for adults at least 18 years old), a National Drug Take Back area (to safely dispose unused or expired medications), health information and screenings, fun activities for everyone, and "Healthcare in 2013" panel discussion featuring SVH's Chief Medical Officer, Robert Schlager, MD, and SVH President/CEO Victoria Alexander-Lane. The adult flu shot clinic will provide seasonal flu immunizations for $22 per shot or free when you show Medicare card. Anyone interested in receiving a flu shot is requested to wear a short-sleeve shirt.

The panel discussion, located in the Conference Room at the SVH Administration Office on Leighton Street, will focus on preventive healthcare benefits, anticipated changes in healthcare related to the Affordable Care Act, and ways to make decisions about health care choices.

Other attractions at the fair include cooking demonstrations, “Taste of the Market,” physical activities for all ages, bone density reading (hand only), and information about various services offered at the hospital and throughout the community. Activities for children include face-painting and a teddy bear clinic.
